The Best Ways to Use Your Venues Outdoor Space

Outside space at weddings is like a kitchen at a house party – no matter what, a group always collects there. When it comes to outside space, the little touches can really make your wedding extra memorable and unique. So, here’s a few ideas on how you can maximise the use of your outside space and make it feel more part of you main venue. If your wedding has a rustic feel, a great way to use your outside space is the use of candles. Get creative by piling up some off logs and top with some pillar candles and foliage, matching flowers. It creates a beautiful photo opportunity, as well as a perfect meeting place outside. Candles can also work brilliantly to light any path ways – for example, between buildings or to the restrooms.
Firepits or Chimineas give your guests a place to stand outside and still be cosy. Fires add a romantic vibe to any space, and your guests will love it even more if you add a bucket of marshmallows and sticks next to it – fun for everyone! If your outside space includes woodland, hang some mason jars filled with battery powered lights off the branches. Or you can even buy outdoor lighting, such as these solar powered outdoor lamps at B&Q. Add some string, and they will be perfect hung up anywhere and everywhere, and they will be perfect to add to your newlywed garden! Throw some blankets and throw pillows over a few hay bales and create a small and budget friendly lounge area. Match the blankets and pillows to your theme, and it will look just right.
Everybody loves a photo at a wedding, and having a backdrop outside will make sure all of your friends will savour their photos from your wedding. If you already have a beautiful setting, just frame it with an arch, whether it be a wooden frame with chiffon and flowers or an on trend copper pipe arch, it will make a perfect photo opportunity. Or if your views are limited, make yourselves a colourful ribbon backdrop, like below: cheap, effective and very easy to create. You can even match the ribbon colours to your theme! – here’s a great ‘how to’ article. Family can feature very highly when it comes to weddings, and as a way to include everyone – have a family tree. Grab some cheap assorted frames – try scanning the charity shops around you, and fill them with pictures of your important family. Arrange them as a family, and attach them to a tree outside. Everyone will love to look at them, and it’s a great way to remember those who are no longer able to be at your big day! Having a tree for each the bride and groom – and trying meeting them in the middle with a picture of the new Mr & Mrs. It creates a memorable photo op too! Outside space can be a lovely place to end the night, and what brings everyone outside more than fireworks! End your night with a bang with a spectacular show of lights, that will create a romantic atmosphere, surrounded by your loved ones. It will also give you time as a couple to take the evening in and process some of the memories of the night. (Top tip: make sure to have someone sensible in charge of them, not your pyromaniac uncle. There’s lots of companies around who will do them for you – take a look here).
