How to Include Your Pets at Your Wedding
A pet can be such an important part in your life, especially with your partner. They are your first children and with all the memories you have after your wedding, you want to have them there too.
It can start right from the beginning – include them in your save the date’s. Take this one as an example, grab a sign with the date on and get them to ‘hold’ it – you’ll have a cute and cheap save the date to send out to your friends.

There are many ways for you to get your pets involved in your ceremony. Attach a little bag to their collar and let them be the cutest ring bearer (of course, a well-trained pet is a necessity). Have them be an escort for your flower girl or page boy, wrapping pretty flowers around their lead. Or if you have a lonely bridesmaid walking down the aisle, pair them up with your best friend.
Include them in your engagement photos and get some really cute shots. Add a sign like ‘my humans are getting married’ and everyone will swoon with how cute they are. You can get them involved in your photos on the big day too. A must-have shot is of your hands and paws – once you have your new rings, ask your photographer to get a photo of your hands plus the paws of your pet – like this one. Having them in your photos is such a lovely thing to look back on, especially way into the future when your pet may no longer be with you.

Make sure you have someone in charge of them on the big day. You want to be free to do as you please on the day, so try to get someone to take charge of taking them for toilet breaks and looking after them while you’re not around. You don’t want to catch your dog eating your cake!
If you think its best that your buddy doesn’t come to your big day, there are lots of way you can still include them even when they are absent. Include them in your cake, with a shadow cake topper – it’s a great way to include them and its super adorable. For the groom, have cufflinks made with pictures of your pal on. For the bride, add a pet charm onto your wedding bouquet. For your guests, have ‘doggie bag’ favours for your pet owning friends to take home with them.

Top tip: If you are dead set on having your pet at your wedding, consider this before you book your venue. Not all venues allow animals, so make sure the one you want does, otherwise you could end up being disappointed! And also make sure that there will be somewhere quiet for your pet to escape if he needs to.
