Unique Send Off Ideas

Sending off to the newly married couple is a lovely moment, both for the couple and their family and friends. It’s a moment for everyone to let the ceremony sink in and a time for people to all come together and give their well wishes. It also makes for some beautiful wedding shots that you will cherish forever. Here are some unique alternatives to the normal confetti.

If you are keen crafters, try using pom-pom confetti. They are fun to make and completely customisable to your colour scheme. Add them to a piece of card to let your guests know what they are for, and they double up as a little favour.

For the environmentally conscious ones out there, there’s lots of options that spread the same sentiment as well as helping the environment. Try providing buckets of Bird seed instead of confetti – its cheap and really unique! Or similarly, you could use oats to throw. Add them into little cellophane bags with a card tag attached reading ‘oat to joy’ – check out these as an example.

If you want something you can buy, look out for plantable confetti. The biodegradable confetti paper comes with built in wild flower seeds which will plant themselves once thrown – here’s an example to purchase.

If you have an outside or autumnal wedding, using leaves as confetti is a beautiful and distinctive confetti idea. Scoop them up and pop them in little paper kraft bags, or use a hole punch to get little discs of leaves to throw.

If you don’t want your guests to ‘throw’ anything at you, streamers and ribbon wands are a great alternative to confetti. You can make them as colourful as you want, or even match the ribbon to other ribbon you have used in your day. They will make just as beautiful of photos as confetti, but they are much more fun to dance around with – and there’s no mess to clean up!

If your ceremony is an evening affair, or if you’re doing your send off on your way to the honeymoon, using sparklers or glow sticks is a fab idea. Everyone loves them, no matter the occasion, and the photos will look absolutely phenomenal.

If you are keen crafters, try using pom-pom confetti. They are fun to make and completely customisable to your colour scheme. Add them to a piece of card to let your guests know what they are for, and they double up as a little favour. Plus, unlike some of the other ideas – there’s no chance of injury!

Top tip: Be aware of where your guests will be throwing etc – if they will be doing it outside and nobody will be cleaning it up, make sure it won’t harm animals
