Unique Sweet Snack Bars

Having snack bars at your wedding is a fairly recent trend that is both practical and fun. If you pair your cocktail hour or pre-dinner drinks with a snack bar, it’s cheaper than providing canapés and also a lot more entertaining for your guests – and much sweeter!

If you are having a summer wedding, add a snack bar to cool down your guests. Have your venue bring out a selection of difficult popsicles and ice lollies for a cooling and refreshing treat before the wedding breakfast. It’s something all ages with love, and it’s super unique.

You could ever combine your cocktail hour with the popsicles and try your hand at making your own alcoholic ice pops. The moulds are fairly cheap and readily available at places like Amazon and IKEA.

Gin and Tonic ice pops are really simple, and really refreshing!

Here’s a recipe for 6:

1 1/2 cups tonic water
1/4 cup gin
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup fresh lime juice (from about two limes)
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon lime zest

If popsicles aren’t your thing, have an ice cream sundae bar! Fun for all the family and so easy to do on a budget. Get a few different flavours of ice cream (Vanilla, chocolate and something fruity), some syrups, a few Cadbury’s flakes and sprinkles and you’re set! Easy, cheap and cool.

On the other hand, if you have a wintery and chilly season for your wedding, give your guests something to warm their insides after walking around in the cold. Instead of having a cocktail hour, have a hot chocolate hour! All you’ll need is some disposable coffee cups, some hot chocolate, marshmallows and syrup. If you want to add a little tipple alongside this, Baileys goes very well in hot chocolate!

Everyone loves cake, especially at a wedding. Making a cupcake decorating bar is very unique and makes sure that everyone will have a cupcake that they will like. Provide a couple of basic flavours of cupcakes – maybe just a vanilla or chocolate. Then mix up a few different batches of buttercream. Add some bowls of chocolates and sweets to top, and some caramel/raspberry sauce. People will love being able to make their own, and it doubles up as a form of entertainment while you have your pictures taken, etc. This is also perfect if you can do the baking, but aren’t so good with the decoration!

Popcorn bars are maybe the easiest of all of the snack bars. Minimal effort is needed to prepare – just popcorn, a few chocolates, paper bags and some sugar and spice! It is also a perfect snack to have while moving around and chatting. Its sure to be less messy than making cupcakes! For a rough idea of servings, if you have 128 Guests you will want to purchase a minimum of 8 gallons for each guest to have one, 1 cup serving of popcorn.

So give it a go! Sweet snack bars are one of the easiest things to DIY for your wedding, and will also be one of the most memorable things for your guests.
